The real portable 5G network from AT & T will come based on 3GPP 5G NR specification soon
AT & T promised at the beginning of the year that it would launch a real 5G network based on standards at the end of 2018, and during its latest gains, CEO John Donovan confirmed these plans, promising that the network would launch "in the next few weeks" via phone scoop.
This will be the next-generation generation 5 generation, unlike the 5G Evolution launched last year, essentially the same as the 4G LTE improvements that its competitors were making under some creative brands.
Again, considering that AT & T has already promised to launch its 5G network sometime before the end of the year, and the fact that the end of the year a few weeks (I know, right?), Donovan's commitment to launch is not a huge news, That AT & T has already tested its network since February.
Strictly speaking, Verizon AT & T has won the punch for the first 5G network in the United States, launching an early 5G network in Houston, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, and Sacramento in early October.
But Verizon does not rely on 3GPP's 5G NR specification, but uses a different standard called 5G TF, which plans to upgrade to 5G NR sometime in the future.
In addition, the current Verizon network is a fixed 5G network for a fixed home Internet, not a portable device that you might think of when thinking about cellular internet.Verizon can launch 5G home net service beginning Gregorian calendar month first
AT & T, if it goes as planned, will be the first network in the United States to launch the 3GP NR system based on the 3GPP standards as well as a mobile network (although there are no supported devices yet).
Less clear is the extent of AT & T's launch in 2018.
Currently, AT & T is testing 5G in Charlotte, Raleigh, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Atlanta and Waco, representing only six of the 12 cities promised in January to launch 5G In 2018.
