Samsung's Bixby App Store starts competing better with Alexa and Google Home

Samsung's Bixby App Store starts competing better with Alexa and Google Home, Bixby market, Samsung has opened a new application store for Bixby so Galaxy users can discover new shortcuts they can use with the assistant.

Called the Bixby Market, users can review the "Bixby Capsules".

Although it looks like a prescription, these tools are similar to Amazon's Alexa skills, which allow you to easily access certain functions of an application using a voice command.

Bixby already offers quick commands that integrate with third-party applications, but the market makes it easy to browse through different categories of applications, such as gaming, productivity, travel, and music.

Users can also customize a capsule for the specific need. For example, if you prefer to use Uber or Lyft, you can select the transport capsule to always ask for a Uber ride when you ask Bixby about a car to the airport.

Popular third-party apps include Spotify, Yelp, YouTube, NPR, and Google Maps (although it's clear that Google Assistant is also available on Samsung phones and may be a better way to get the most out of Google apps.)

Samsung claims that Bixby market and capsules will not allow visual ads, although it is not clear whether voice-based advertising (such as the beta ads users hear on Google's assistant to promote a Disney movie) will be allowed.

With the launch of the Bixby market, Samsung hopes to have more developers on the Bixby platform and says it plans to unveil later this fall at the Samsung Developers Conference in San Jose, California.

Users in the US and Korea can start using the market today.
