Android will have the equivalent of sharing an AirDrop from Apple

Android will have the equivalent of sharing an AirDrop from Apple, Android will have the equivalent of sharing an AirDrop from Apple, Ask iPhone users about the amenities they like and there's a good chance to mention AirDrop - it's an easy way to share an image with an Apple device owner nearby.

Android users must have a nearby equivalent.
The 9to5Google team succeeded to enable a quick share feature coming on Android that like downloading, the use of a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to send files and even text snippets to a nearby person.

Turn it on and you can see nearby devices that support Fast Share, with transfers that take a few clicks (including confirmation from the recipient).

There are some major differences.
You do not seem to be able to restrict transfers to your contacts, but you can select "Preferred visibility" to see your favorites even when you do not use Fast Share.

Samples on the Fast Share screen indicate that this may be available on Chromebooks and iOS devices and even smart OS watches, although we will not count on everyone available when the feature becomes public. IOS version requires a special app.

Not sure when a quick share will be launched, although it's a Google Play services feature that probably does not require Android Q. Google may not wait too long, though.

The company warned that it migrates NFC-based Android Beam transfers in Q. As such, Fast Share can be the only way to quickly send files to local users without resorting to applications (such as files from Google) that your friends will not necessarily have.
