How do I share my real time location on Google Maps? Google Maps is useful to help you find your way - or even help you find your car - but the app can also help other people find you.

Maps have a feature that is easily ignored to share your place in real time with someone so they can see your exact location, even if you're moving, then navigate to your location.

AR may be the best that happened on Google Maps
You can use the same feature to allow a trusted person to keep tabs that offer your travel to a specific place and know exactly when you will arrive.

Open the Maps app on your iOS device or Android device

Click the blue dot, which represents your current location, then select "Share location" from the menu that appears. (If this is your first time using Maps for this purpose, your phone may prompt you to authorize the application to access your contacts before proceeding.)

If you want to share your location for a specified period of time, select the one hour option, then use the blue and minus buttons to increase or decrease the time as needed

If you want to share your location indefinitely - until you turn it off manually - select the "Until you turn this off"

On Android, select the person you want to share your location with from the Suggested Contacts list or select an app (such as Gmail or Messages) to send a special link. You can also choose to copy the link to your system folder and then paste it anywhere you want.

On the iPhone, click "Select people" to choose someone from your contacts, select "Message" to send a private link to someone in your messaging app, or select "More" to send a special link via another calling service. Your phone may prompt you to grant continuous access maps to your site before proceeding.

If you share your location within the Maps app itself - by choosing a contact instead of sending a link via an external application - the person you share your location with will receive a notification on their phone. In addition, when you select Location Sharing in the side menu of Maps, you'll see an icon at the top for you and the person you're sharing. Select the person icon, and a bar at the bottom of the screen will allow you to stop sharing, share your location again, or ask someone to share their location with you.

To manually turn off Maps from sharing your location:
Open the Maps app, and look for the "Share your location" bar at the bottom of the screen

Click "x" next to the line that shows how and when your site is shared
