Firefox 63 with Enhanced Trace Protection to block third-party cookies

Mozilla released Firefox 63, which offers enhanced tracking protection, a feature that blocks third-party tracking software to increase your privacy on the Internet.

Mozilla has focused on data and privacy in recent months, announcing upcoming features such as an ad tracking program in Firefox by default and its partnership with ProtonVPN to sell subscriptions to a small group of Firefox users.

At this time, Firefox 63 is provided with "improved tracking protection" by default, but gives users the option to block third-party tracking cookies or block all tracking software.

Users can also create exceptions to sites that they trust, if they are broken because blocking programs are blocked.

In a detailed blog post discussing this feature, the company explains finding the right trade-offs between having stronger privacy protection and unintentionally damaging small sites that use third-party tools.

Apple's Safari browser was the first browser to block third-party cookies by default, and the company also introduced the Intelligent Traceability feature in 2017, which reduced application capabilities to track users across websites.

Today's "Firefox" update also includes an update to the New Tab page, which links the top user sites.

In addition, Siri Shortcuts is currently available for Firefox on iOS, which allows users to open a new tab via voice commands.

Finally, the new browser will now adapt to the dark or light theme you're using in your Windows settings. You can download the latest version here.
