Google Play Movies is upgraded to 4K free of charge

As is commonly known, Google is promoting catalog movies in your digital library to 4K versions. And free.

As Apple did during the release of Apple TV's 4K version, Google automatically upgraded all supported movies on the Play Movies & TV Store.

You will find that the movies you have purchased must have been replaced with higher resolution copies where possible.

This includes movies purchased on HD or SD, wherever a 4K version is available.

All you need to do is open the Play Movies & TV app and let you know which titles have been upgraded.

In addition, the cost of 4K movies on Google Play is now lower than ever. See the top 4K Google addresses here.

It is also believed that whenever available, 4K movies purchased in the future will cost the same as the equivalent HD cost - and play in Ultra HD on compatible devices.

Some movies also come with HDR technology, but are hard to see on Google Play

It makes sense to include it, considering that there are a lot of Android devices now with HDR screens. And many 4K TVs.

Speaking of that, you can now watch movies you bought from 4K on Sony Bravia TVs and Samsung "most" sets. LG support soon.
