Breathtaking whale shot wins Through Your Lens ikon competition

The winners of the Through Your Lens 2018 photography competition are proclaimed. The annual competition, currently in its ordinal year, is pass skin diving magazine, and is receptive underwater photographers of all ability levels.

More than a pair of,2000 pictures were submitted, and therefore the grand prize was picked up by Rodney Bursiel for his exciting shot of a whale calf (above). 

Bursiel reveals that when defrayment a complete day finding out whales, a curious and interactive mother and calf appeared. With the mother hovering some thirty feet below, her inquisitive calf would build its thanks to the surface to breathe. Rodney wished to make a novel perspective by flipping the image the wrong way up, that the whale seems to be floating simply higher than the surface fully breach.

In Bursiel's words: "Storytelling isn’t perpetually concerning the fact of what was seen – I hope the image shares with others my fight the paranormal world I realize myself in when I dip below the surface".

Rodney used a Nikon D800 full-frame DSLR with a 16mm f/2.8 optical lens prime lens hooked up, in associate Ikelite housing. Rodney collects a $1,000 money prize and a liveaboard trip aboard the dive boat Oman Aggressor.
